Hanckel Marine Turns 25!

Today marks a major milestone — 25 years of Hanckel Marine. We opened our doors with a vision and a passion for serving the boating community. Thanks to your support, trust, and loyalty, that vision has grown into the thriving business we are today.

We are incredibly grateful for the relationships, memories, and friendships we've built over the years. Whether you're a longtime customer, a new friend, or a fellow marine enthusiast, you've played a part in our journey — and for that, we thank you.

On October 1, 2000, Hanckel Marine proudly celebrated 25 years in business as a locally owned and operated marine dealership. Over the course of our history, we've been fortunate to have some of the best employees in the industry on our team.  Hanckel Marine has remained a constant leader, not just in Charleston, but throughout the Southeast.

Our commitment to excellence has earned us a long list of accolades, including multiple Top Five Dealer in the Nation awards from both Sea Pro and Sportsman Boats. With Yamaha Motors, we consistently ranked among the top two dealers in our territory and were honored for many years as a Best In Class Dealer—a distinction that became the norm until the industry-wide motor shortage opened the door for Mercury to enter the market.

In addition to motor sales, Hanckel Marine has been recognized as a top-performing dealer in both retail parts sales and service. As of 2025, we are proud to be one of only six dealerships in the Southeast designated as a Yamaha Service Pro Dealer—a prestigious title awarded by Yamaha Motor Company to service centers that meet their highest standards of quality and customer care.

Locally, Hanckel Marine has become a trusted name. Since voting began in 2016, we’ve been named "Best Place to Buy a Boat" every year by the Post and Courier Charleston’s Choice. Additionally, we’ve just been honored as the "Best Place to Buy a Boat" for the 20th consecutive year by the Charleston City Paper, along with being awarded "Best Boat Repair/Maintenance" - a new category they added this year.
