The Benefits of a Diurnal Fuel System

Nov. 11 2019 News By Hanckel Marine

If you’ve bought a boat from Hanckel Marine recently, there’s a very good chance that your boat has a diurnal fuel system.

So, what does that mean for you?

A diurnal fuel system is designed to reduce fuel emissions to the atmosphere using criteria mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

With this fuel system in place, your boat is required and designed to have a positive pressure (>1PSI) as the sun heats the boat and the fuel in the tank expands or may be equipped with a carbon canister to catch and contain fuel vapors.

Additionally, the benefits of having a diurnal fuel system includes the ability to produce a clean refueling shut off event, create a five percent vapor space, reduce the propensity of a refueling spit-back event and allow for appropriate venting when the vessel is store or trailered.
